Hi, I’m Amez of foodie amez

Thank you for visiting my little business. My name is Amez and I started this business with the help of many amazing people to pursue my love for baking and cooking and share it with people like you.

NOTICE: I do own a cat who lives with me in a one bedroom flat. She’s never in the kitchen or on any kitchen surfaces when I am baking. Please declare any cat allergies before ordering. Rest assured that every surfaces and items used are properly cleaned and sanitized before I bake.

All you need to know about my cooking and baking style is this: I have baked for over five years and love experimenting with new food combinations and inventing new dishes as I learn.

My first baking inspiration was French lemon cakes that I saw on a Korean drama called My lovely Sam Soon. Trust me, they are delicious. Especially when I make them extra zesty. Cooking and baking is my passion and I hope you can see and taste that as you dig into one of my delicious sourdough loaves or zesty lemon cakes. To me baking and cooking is quite a personal and peaceful thing. I can’t wait to share my delicious cakes and food dishes with you!

My Approach

My approach to cooking and baking is quite relaxed and fun. I like to put on a good playlist and take my time with each recipe. Baking especially is very therapeutic for me. Even when I’m making my third sourdough loaf of the day and my arms are aching. It’s all worth it. I approach every new idea with a open mindset and that’s how I came about many of the recipes that you can find in my cookbook, which will come out sometime in 2023! Watch this space for exclusive updates and even a discount when the book is published. One of my aims with the book is to prove that cooking can be easy, healthy and really fun. There was a time when I was the least creative person I knew and now, I can’t imagine my life without doing one or ten different creative things.

Kurdish background

I come from a Kurdish family that fled to Turkey and then to Norway at the age of 7. A lot of my more savoury dishes are inspired in some way by this background and by the people I have met throughout my journey to the UK where I now live. I therefore love exploring different cultures, which is reflected in my baking and cooking. I’ve made everything from Vietnamese Curry to Nigerian and Ghanaian Jollof rice (my favourite!)

Norwegian background

I grew up in this beautiful country and most of my childhood was spent here. Norwegian culture has also defined who I am as a person and as a cook and baker. I’ll admit some of their cakes, especially the Christmas ones, are very hard to make. But I’ve had my fair share of the all-famous waffles and you can definitely expect to see these on my website soon. Don’t miss out!
